A right-back, followed Justin Edinburgh from Southend for �425,000 in May 1992 having moved to the Essex club after spells with two Vauxhall League clubs, Hendon and St Albans. The transfer fee was settled by a tribunal and consisted of an initial payment plus a top-up once he had completed a stipulated number of games for Spurs. This was never in doubt after he came on as a substitute to make his debut against Crystal Palace, Tottenham's third game of the 1992-93 season. From that point on he became a regular and carried on the good understanding he had at Southend with Edinburgh. It was while at Southend that he helped them reach the First Division for the first time in their history in 1991. Born in Hemel Hempstead, the 25-year-old has made more than 100 appearances for Spurs.
