Joined Spurs when they signed him with the future in the mind. At the time Edinburgh was with Southend but had not really established himself with the Essex club although he had picked up some first team experience. Edinburgh was allowed to go to Spurs on loan for three months from January 1990 where he impressed enough for the North London club to sign him for 150,000. He then made a handful of appearances in the 1990-91 campaign prior to Christmas before alternating with Pat van den Hauwe in the left-back role. The following season 27-year-old Edinburgh was an FA Cup winner, in the Spurs side that beat Nottingham Forest 2-1 at Wembley. Inspite of the belief shown in him by Spurs, Edinburgh has not conclusively nailed down his place in the sdie and though first choice at the beginning of the 1995-96 season he was displaced by the experienced Clive Wilson.
